Pro-Ject Acryl It RPM1 Carbon Turntable Platter
A precision-machined acrylic platter upgrade that dramatically reduces resonance for noticeably cleaner, quieter vinyl playback.
The Pro-Ject RPM 1 Carbon is a fine entry-level turntable, but its stock platter is a weak link. The Acryl It replaces that lightweight component with a solid 4.5-pound slab of inert acrylic. The mass helps the platter spin with steady momentum, while the material itself absorbs vibrations that would otherwise muddy the sound.
At 11-13/16 inches wide and just over an inch tall, it drops directly onto the RPM 1’s spindle. You’ll notice the difference in the quiet spaces between tracks. The noise floor drops, and low-end frequencies tighten up. It also pairs naturally with Pro-Ject’s Clamp It record weight, which further presses the vinyl flat against the acrylic surface for better coupling.
The swap takes seconds and requires no tools. The only real downside is the price—it costs about a third of what the entire turntable does. But if you’ve already invested in better cartridges or speakers, this platter is the single most impactful upgrade you can make to the RPM 1 without buying a new table.
