The H2 2-Button Smart Light Switch works over Thread and Zigbee, and it handles the full Matter protocol, so it plays nice with Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Home Assistant right out of the box. The key differentiator here is the decoupled switch mode. You can disable the physical button’s direct control of the relay and turn each button into a dedicated wireless trigger for scenes or automations. That gives you two fully programmable switches that don’t need to control the light they’re wired to.

The switch is rated for 10 amps at 120 volts, with a normally closed contact type and clamp connectors for clean installation. In daily use, the buttons feel crisp and responsive with solid tactile feedback. The Thread protocol keeps response times snappy, and the Zigbee fallback ensures reliability if your Thread network isn’t fully built out yet. At a standard US wall plate size, it replaces a regular switch without any drywall work.

One honest limitation: the decoupled mode requires you to understand how you want your automations to work. It’s not a set-and-forget device. You’ll want to plan your scenes ahead of time, especially if you’re pairing it with other Aqara sensors or hubs. If you just want a simple on/off switch, skip the decoupled mode and use it normally. But if you want to trigger a whole room scene from a single button press, this is the most flexible option under $40.
