Hunter Industries has been building irrigation control systems for over 40 years. The NODE-BT-100-LS solves a specific problem: watering remote areas where running power lines is impractical or expensive. This is a battery-operated Bluetooth controller designed to live inside a valve box in the ground, rain or shine.

Setup happens entirely through Hunter’s smartphone app. You map the controller’s physical location, set watering schedules, and get push notifications when the batteries need replacing. The app also logs every irrigation event, which makes troubleshooting a leak or a stuck valve much faster than digging up the box to check. The controller itself is waterproof and made of thick plastic, so it handles being buried in wet soil or sitting inside a greenhouse without issue.

The tradeoff is battery life. Running a solenoid valve on AA batteries means you’re not powering high-flow commercial systems for hours every day. For a small garden, a median strip, or a roundabout with moderate watering needs, the NODE-BT works reliably for months between changes. If you need to run multiple zones or long cycle times, you’ll want a hardwired unit.
