The BRAVIA Theater Quad system is the result: a 16-speaker setup that uses 360 Spatial Sound Mapping to create phantom speakers in your room. It doesn’t just fire audio at you from four boxes. It analyzes your walls, ceiling, and furniture, then places virtual sound sources around you. The effect is a dome of audio that makes a rainstorm feel like it’s overhead or a car chase feel like it’s passing behind your couch.

Setup is refreshingly flexible. Each speaker is wireless, so you can put them on the floor or wall-mount them without running cables across the room. The Sound Field Optimization feature uses the built-in microphones to calibrate everything in under two minutes. You get Dolby Atmos and support for both 4K and 8K HDR passthrough through the HDMI 2.1 inputs, which means gaming at 120Hz is on the table. The BRAVIA CONNECT app handles volume and input switching, though you’ll want to keep the remote handy for quick adjustments.

The system shines with immersive content, but it’s worth noting that stereo music can feel less natural than a dedicated two-channel setup. The quad processing works hard to upmix, and it does a respectable job, but purists may notice the artificial widening. For movies and modern games, though, this is one of the most convincing home theater experiences you can get without building a ceiling-mounted array. The metal enclosures feel sturdy, and the whole thing disappears visually when placed against dark walls.
