Shark AV2820S Self-Empty Robot Vacuum with PowerDetect
Self-emptying robot vacuum with PowerDetect for tackling stubborn debris.
Shark’s robot vacuums have always focused on practical cleaning power over flashy gimmicks. The AV2820S PowerDetect takes that approach further with three detection systems that actually change how the vacuum behaves. It senses dirt concentration, floor type, and wall edges, then adjusts suction and brush roll speed on the fly. That means it digs into carpets when it finds debris, but backs off on hard floors to avoid scattering crumbs.
The NeverStuck technology is the standout feature here. It uses LiDAR navigation to map your home and avoid common traps like cords, rug tassels, and tight furniture gaps. In testing, it cleared rooms without needing a rescue, which is rare for a robot under $600. The self-emptying base holds up to 30 days of debris in a HEPA bagless system, so you only think about it once a month. Pet hair pickup is strong, thanks to the self-cleaning brush roll that doesn’t tangle as badly as older Shark models.
One limitation: the included side brush is basic, and it won’t handle deep corners as well as some competitors with dual brushes. The app is functional but not as polished as iRobot’s. Still, for the price, you get a robot that cleans intelligently, empties itself, and won’t get stuck under your couch. That’s a solid daily driver for most homes.
