The mat uses a honeycomb heat shield to distribute warmth evenly without hot spots. The outer layer is soft spandex and smooth leather, which feels comfortable against bare skin and avoids the sticky sensation cheaper mats produce. One limitation: the mat is not waterproof. You cannot wipe it down with a wet cloth, so keeping it clean requires a separate cover or careful placement.
