It connects to your home network via the required SBS50 base station, sending alerts to your phone if a rapid temperature rise is detected. The 10-year sealed battery means you install it and largely forget it. Just note the setup requires a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network; it won’t connect to 5 GHz bands.

The system works reliably, but understand the ecosystem. The alarm itself doesn’t connect directly to the X-Sense app. All communication and smart alerts route through that separate base station, which you must purchase. For monitoring high-risk heat areas without the nuisance alarms, it’s a solid, set-and-forget solution.
